It can always be deeper.
Something I do pretty regularly and for sure pretty recently… is make a small project a BIG project.
Two bikes came into my yard life recently and they both made me kinda mad. One was a bike for a friend but he moved and never got on board with the mustache bars anyway. He threw in literally a Cannondale crime bike someone had left in his yard.
Bike number 1: RB-2 with an irritating and sad back story. I had put riser bars on it in case that would work better for my friend. Then I got an ASC hub and didn’t want to pull my Quickbeam apart. Instead of simply putting the hub on the bike and figuring out the shifter, I… swapped out the whole cockpit with a black version of the same bars, a black set post,

Bike number 2: Cannondale bike has a 1 1/4” head tube and a blown Mag 21 fork. The fork rebuild kit is $40 but I saw a rigid fork and stem on eBay for $110. Which is more. So… instead of slapping the fork on and building it back up I figured, “boy that silver fork and stem would look good on a stripped aluminum frame.” My Cannondale enabler friend came over with corrosive paint stripper an hour after I called.
